Why is the world or why are people threatened by goodness? Why do countries or people feel so insecure when they see other nations or people progress and develop? Why do we feel as if the progress or development of others means that we are have regressed or have become undeveloped. Joseph’s brothers in today’s reading were threatened by Joseph’s dreams. What they did not realise was that Joseph’s dream was for their salvation and for their own good. Dreams bring about the betterment of society and yet society is always afraid of the man or the woman with a dream.
Jesus had a dream of a kingdom of God that is already here but hidden in the midst of life. He was killed because he wanted all men and women to experience this kingdom; a kingdom that all human hearts crave for and are created for. Following Jesus means to be a man and a woman with a dream, his dream and to live out this dream, called love, in our daily lives. This dream, called love, will cost us. It will cost us everything. A man once claimed he had a dream where all men and women would be judged not by the colour of their skin but by the integrity of their character. He was murdered because he followed his dream. Today his society cannot keep quiet about his courage to live out the dream of love.
Every man and woman that is able to follow this dream of Love will be a stone that is rejected by builders that later become the corner stone. These builders may even be your friends, relatives and all those that you love.
A man, a woman or a society without a dream is a man, a woman or a society that is dead. When we live out our dreams, we give others permission to do the same. May God give us the courage to dream and the audacity to live out our dreams today and not become a grave-yard of dreams! May God bless us all.
May God continue to give us the audacity live out our dreams, though it may coast us everything. God bless you Fr. for sharing.
So help me God.
Amen. Bless you Fr. P
