Genesis 17: 3 – 9
“Here now is my covenant with you: you shall become the father of a multitude of nations…and your issues shall be kings”. These were God’s words and promises to Abraham. God was not speaking to a young man with many children. God was speaking to a old man of hundred years old whose wife is ninety years old and barren. It was to these two that God’s promise of fertility was addressed. God’s great plan and promise was placed in the hands of two old couple with unsurmountable limitations.
God’s promise is never dependent on our human strength and limitations; it goes beyond what we can or cannot do. God’s promise to us is always dependent on what God can do with us.
Trust in God and never give up on yourself and on your dreams. Never dim your light because of subtle impossibilities; never lower your bars because of apparent limitations. Abraham believed and worked. Believe and work. If you want to be a doctor, a writer, an engineer, a teacher, a priest, or a president. Believe and work. Never give up. Believe that God’s promises to you is not fueled by your limitations but by the power of God. Believe as if everything depends on God and work as if everything depends on you. We can always do all things through him who gives us strength. God can do amazing things with our limitations.
Blessed are they who believe that the promises made to them by the Lord will always come to pass. Abraham believed. God’s promises to us will happen whether we like it or not. May God bless us and give us the grace to trust in what God is capable of doing with us.
Lord, may I never be discourage by my limitations but to trust in you.
